Thursday, Juneau, Alaska

Juneau is the capital of Alaska. Because it's an island, there is no way to drive to Juneau, you have to fly or boat in. Juneau is also located in a rain forest. With over 220 days of rain per year and over 50 inches of rain, you should be prepared for wet weather by bringing rain gear.

The city of Juneau is located at the base of mountains that soar straight up almost 4,000 feet. Early in the season visitors are presented with snow capped peaks and fabulous waterfalls.

There are many things to do in Juneau. Click here to read excursion reviews. Remember to click here to look at all the Princess excursions.

Mom and I will be taking a flight seeing tour this afternoon. We want to wait for the fog to burn off before flying out.

The Rainforest Garden Adventure looks great to me. We have to find something for the kids and John to do that morning.

There is usually a local tour company set up at the dock offering to take people on a local tour of the area, including Mendenhall Glacier and a look at bald eagles. He has been quite reasonable in the past. Mary

Patricia talked about doing the Mount Roberts tramway in Juneau with Kristen and Kathryn. Perhaps Mary could join them. Mom

We four Ilers will be using the tramway as a means to access hiking trails. We are packing hiking boots. Will also liked walking around Juneau. There was an interesting church. We will probably take a bus to the glacier. Anyone who enjoys lots of walking is welcome to come. We are packing some rain gear just in case. Pray for good weather!
